About Objects
Premier Cocoa training, consulting and development.
About Objects is a premier training, consulting, and software
product company headquartered in Reston, VA. We have a strong focus on the Objective-C programming language, Mac OS X, iPhone OS, Cocoa and Cocoa Touch, and the whole grouping of related libraries, frameworks, and tools.
Our company (and most of our instructors) have well over a decade's experience in teaching developers of all backgrounds how to be successful with these technologies. We have a similar breadth of hands-on experience delivering first-rate software written in both Objective-C and Java as consultants to enterprise development teams for Fortune 500 customers.
About Objects training courses distinguish themselves by placing a greater emphasis on building proficiency, and by providing a deeper understanding of key concepts. All of our courses are designed from the ground up to build measurable skills using a unique, step-by-step, building blocks approach.
In addition to our regularly scheduled, open–enrollment classes, we offer customized, on-site training, as well as private classes in our state-of-the-art facilities.
Smaller Class Size
We believe that a smaller class size facilitates learning, so we run most of our classes with eight or fewer attendees. Most participants tell us that they feel more relaxed and comfortable posing questions and interacting with the instructor in our classes than they would in a class two or three times the size. (Although classes that large are common throughout the industry.)
Students are welcome to bring their own MacBook or MacBook Pro computers, but they can also reserve one of our machines (usually a 13" MacBook Pro) for use in the classroom.
Approach to Learning
Since developers primarily learn by doing, our courses immediately follow short lecture periods with lab exercises so attendees have a chance to get hands-on familiarity with new APIs, language features, etc. as soon as they're introduced. Our courses also emphasize realism in the design of examples and labs. Keeping labs focused on real-world problems makes it easier for students to understand the relevance of new features they're learning, and concrete examples help to quickly put new items in context.
Our courses cover not only the basics, but also some of the trickier aspects of real-life development. Our goal is to help save attendees from potentially weeks or even months of struggle in their real-world projects by giving them as much insight as possible into pitfalls and best practices.
Instructors
About Objects instructors are an elite group of hand-picked, active practitioners with years of hands-on experience and a track record of success in mission-critical, real-world development. Their broad backgrounds enable them to give accurate and unbiased assessments of the strengths and weaknesses of various solutions, from individual frameworks to entire technology stacks, and allows them to share experiences from the trenches, as well best practices to follow and pitfalls to avoid.
